Researchers at Rush University in 2014 reported a study done with 900 people, aged 58 to 98 years, & followed for 4.5 years. Certain foods like berries which are rich in polyphenols, and leafy green vegetables were found to be highly beneficial for the brain. By adhering to healthy dietary patterns, one researcher was quoted as saying “It was like the brain becoming 11 years younger”

Researchers found that greater adherence to the healthy diet resulted in a markedly slower rate of cognitive decline (memory, focus and problem solving) and reduced Alzheimer’s incidence by a huge 52%. These findings reveal the robust impact following simple dietary and lifestyle choices can have in maintaining brain health. Here is what they found works:

  • Eliminating all gluten, simple carbs and processed food
  • Eating lots of vegetables, grass fed meat, free range chicken & wild fish
  • Meditating dailyy to reduce stress
  • Sleeping 7 hours per night
  • Taking vitamin D, B12, fish oil, and coenzyme Q10 for brain health
  • Fasting 12 hours between dinner and breakfast
  • Exercising at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week
