Tocotrienols are members of the vitamin E family found in grains and nuts. Several studies have been performed on the combination of tocotrienols and quercetin (an antioxidant in plants) for slowing, or even reversing the consequences of cellular ageing (called senescence), particularly the excessive inflammatory signals that aging cells produce. These inflammatory cytokines damage cells and DNA, & are known to stimulate age-related disease. Growing evidence from animal studies shows that the combination of tocotrienols plus quercetin sharply reduces blood levels of inflammatory cytokines thus reducing systemic inflammation in the body, which in turn reduces the overall risk of aging and disease. One specific member of the tocotrienol family - gamma tocotrienol, has been found to block the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) required to feed fast-growing tumors, thereby starving them of nutrients and oxygen needed for rapid growth. Note people taking anti-coagulant or anti-platelet medications, or with a bleeding disorder cannot use these nutrients.
