The Annals of rheumatic diseases reported January 14th 2015, a clinical trial with 606 individuals having knee osteoarthritis. The double blind study over 6 months found that a combination of chondroitin and glucosamine hydrochloride reduced joint swelling by 50% which was the same as a comparison group given the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib. Reduction in pain scores were similar in both groups. NSAIDs are often associated with stomach upset which is not a problem with the natural alternative of chondroitin and glucosamine. Nature proves her effectiveness in relieving our pain once again.
