Results of a trial reported in the American journal of Clinical Nutrition May 20 2015 showed improvements in muscle growth and strength in people taking fish oil. Washington University School of Medicine researchers gave participants between the ages of 60 – 85 fish oil supplements daily for 6 months and found increases in thigh muscle size, hand grip strength and maximum lift capacity. This could be an important discovery because as people age muscle strength and volume reduces and can be the cause of falls and associated fractures later in life.
