Co Q10 is a fat soluble antioxidant that protects the cell membrane against oxidative damage caused during energy production. It also increases energy production itself.
The December 2014 issue of ‘The Journal of Atherosclerosis’ reports on a study done in Japan's University of Tsukuba which found that higher blood levels of the antioxidant Coenzyme-Q10 are associated with a significantly lower risk of Dementia. In fact those with the highest levels of CO-Q10 had 77% less risk of Dementia than those with the lowest. The study observed people aged between 40 and 65 years of age over a 10 year period.
When the ratio of Co-Q10 to Cholesterol was examined a similar beneficial relationship was found to exist.
