A double blind trial reported in the June 16 issue of ‘The Journal of Vitamin and Nutrition Research’ reported a reduction in important markers of inflammation found in the blood of people with high blood pressure who were given 100mg of Coenzyme Q10 daily for 12 weeks. At the end of the study the inflammatory cytokines Interleukin 6, and high sensitivity C Reactive Protein, were significantly lower. Those supplemented also experienced an increase in an anti-inflammatory protein produced by the body called Adiponectin. Inflammation is highly destructive to healthy tissues and is present in all chronic disease, so we are fortunate science is exploring natural ways to reduce it.
