Highly Stressful Life Events
Over 5 decades ago scientists looked at the traumatic life events that radically increased the possibility of developing serious illness in the following year.
They did this by examining the medical records of 5,000 individuals and came up with a list of stressful life events rated out of 100. As the total points increased over a year, so did the chance of ill health - for example if points in the previous year were over 150 the person had 50% chance of developing illness, if over 300 points the chance went up to 80%. Here are a few top rating stressful events, which are nevertheless extremely common, and I’m sure you could add a few of your own:
